“Children see magic because they look for it.”

Christopher Moore

Crystal's Book Series Sample Chapter

   CHAPTER 2 EXCERPT

When they got to the back of the center, Crystal and Noodle looked around to see who Grandpa Dan wanted them to meet. Suddenly, lively music started playing. Noodle just LOVES music! He excitedly ran in the direction of the music with a happy beagle face and a wagging tail.

Then Crystal and Noodle heard a very loud, “SQUAWK! SQUEEK!” Noodle put his paws over his ears to block out the loud singing. They looked up and saw a beautiful, green parrot singing and dancing to the music. He was having so much fun!

When the parrot saw someone watching him, he abruptly closed his beak. He hung his head and did not look at Crystal and Noodle. Crystal said, “That was awesome! You are a good dancer and your singing is, well, enthusiastic. We’d love to hear you sing and dance to another song.”

The parrot would not look up. The parrot was silent. It was a few minutes before he finally spoke and said, “I don’t like to sing in front of people. I was told I’m not very good, and I sing REALLY loud.”

“Who cares what people think? You love to sing, so you should sing,” Crystal told him. “All you need is some confidence.” Crystal reached into her pocket and pulled out the rock that Grandpa Dan chose. The blue and green rock called chrysocolla was the perfect rock for the parrot! “This will help you be more confident and brave,” Crystal said, as she put the rock near the parrot.

Crystal wasn’t sure what else to say to encourage the parrot, but Noodle had an idea. All of a sudden, Noodle burst into song. “AHH – OOOO! AHH – OOOO! AHH – OOOO!” Squawk slowly lifted his head and quietly started to sing. As Noodle continued, the parrot sang louder and louder. Noodle and the parrot were singing a duet. A very loud duet!

  • We all absolutely loved it!

I purchased Crystal’s Quest for my granddaughters, ages 6 & 9. The book is so well written, and the illustrations are beautiful. The girls loved the story and enjoyed learning about the different rocks. It was very educational.

  • I will carry this book in my product line.

Crystal's Quest is a fun read from beginning to end. Crystal and her pet beagle, Noodle meet numerous animal characters on the many adventures they share. Each of their animal friends is in need of support, and Crystal uses her knowledge of gemstones to find the perfect stone to help them. This book offers children a practical way to discover how stones can be used to assist them when they are facing challenges. There is a bookmark in each chapter that educates the reader about the stone featured in that chapter. This is a wonderful way to continue the education about gemstones even after the reader has returned the book to the bookshelf. Their bookmarks can be used over and over again.

  • Looking forward to the next book!

Lisa, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading Crystal's Quest! It is very entertaining, has a great message for young people, and I learned so much about the different kinds of rocks and what they can do. As I mentioned, I am going to donate it to our local library. I'm sure it will be enjoyed by many for years to come.
