And The Sign Says…
I was at a crossroad in life. I had an idea of being a writer but I had a full time job, housing expenses, bills and a whole lot of self-doubt. My mental state was unsettled but my spiritual state was not.
So, I did what I have done for many years. I asked the Divine for a sign.
Like me, everyone gets divine messages and spiritual guidance all the time. The trick is to be open to receiving them, without judgement, and then figuring out what the heck they mean!
I loved receiving messages but I used to struggle deciphering the symbolism, shapes and colors to have much of significant meaning.
At times, I would think about and meditate on my sign, sigh, and then say out loud,
“I Got Nothing”.
Then I had a thought! Why don’t I just ask for my signs to be shown to me in a way that I will clearly understand and remember. What a revelation! I did a happy dance. Back to my crossroad.
I was having a day of angst deciding what to do about my desired writing
career. I asked for a sign – a big one – one that would definitely tell me what to do. Okay, maybe I was a bit pushy but I really needed help!
In my angst, I realized I was hungry so off I went to my favorite deli and bakeshop for lunch. I gave my order and stepped aside for the next hungry human. It was then that I saw it. My sign! Clear as day. Tears filled my eyes and gratitude filled my heart.
There, tucked behind the counter, was a sign that said,
Say YES When It Seems Crazy.
This was a pivotal moment in my life. I had the choice to honor and follow my sign or to ignore it. I am happy to report that since then I have written 2 children’s books and am currently working on number 3. As you may have guessed, I didn’t ignore it.
Right before I moved to another state, I went back to my favorite deli to say my goodbyes. As I was getting ready to leave, the owner smiled and handed me the plaque. “This truly belongs to you”.
As I write this, I glance at the corner of my desk where the plaque is proudly displayed.
My sign. My hope. My new beginning.
What signs have you seen today?
